From Higher-Ed, to Investing, to...
I fell into real estate after pursuing a career in Higher Education.
My “why” for choosing a career in real estate is simple: #Create Wealth for Myself and Others Through Real Estate. And that has become my mission, but to get there I had to get educated first…
When I say educated, I mean in real estate investing. I already earned my Bachelor’s Degree in African American Studies with a Minor in Creative Writing, and then I earned my Masters in Organizational Leadership – all while working as a Director of Enrollment at the university. But Higher-Ed was not going to help me create wealth, or at best, a decent retirement.
I met my first real estate investing mentor in late 2014, and kept running into people who were investing – I thought, “This has to be the right path to creating wealth!”
I took the real estate licensing courses solely to learn about real estate so I could be an educated investor – I had no plans to get the license.
And then the bottom fell out of my Higher-Ed career trajectory...
Falling into the Real Estate Safety-Net
When my mother passed, I served as the Executor of her estate. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I had to travel back to Colorado from California, take all my paid-time off from work, and move through the process while grieving her loss. I was so grateful to the people who were there to help me during that difficult time, and during the process of finalizing her estate, that I decided I would find a way to help others in the same situation.
When I returned home and back to work, the path of my Higher-Ed career was narrowing. For a few years universities experienced steep declines in enrollment. As a reduction-in-force happened, I looked at my options and finished the last real estate licensure course with plans to sell real estate so I could invest in real estate.
I had already established a network of fellow real estate investors, so I new I could focus on working with Cash Buyers and Landlords. These Buyers want properties that have deferred maintenance, including properties in Foreclosures and Probate properties.
A new path emerged...
Building a Business
Realtors® are licensed real estate salespersons belonging to the National Association of Realtors® who follow a Code of Ethics in their Agency Relationship to the clients they serve in buying and selling real estate. There are hundreds of thousands of Realtors® and real estate salespersons without the Realtor® designation around the country who have built business to support others in their financial goals with one of the largest assets they will ever own – a home. With experience, Realtors® gain the knowledge and expertise to service specific areas of real estate, and many certifications are offered by NAR, state associations like the California Association of Realtors (C.A.R.) and through third-party schools whose curriculum ensures they have the skill-set to specialize in their chosen areas of real estate.
As business owners, Realtors® are not a dime-a-dozen, they spend countless hours doing on-going training and continuing education, they maintain a pulse on economic and market conditions, and they must maintain a competent understanding of current and changing real estate laws on the local, state, and national levels.
I am a Realtor®. I specialize in Probate Real Estate and Trust Sales. And I am building a business to live up to fulfil my mission, realize a vision, and live my values.

Always Learning, Growing, and Being the Best I Can Be...
I sought out the courses that would teach me about Foreclosure and Probate properties and the Sellers who need to sell them. When I found the Certified Probate Real Estate Specialist (CPRES) designation I knew I could achieve my wealth goals and help others who desperately need to get through the overwhelm of Probate.
Now I’m a Realtor® with eXp Realty, serving Sellers, Buyers, Investors, and Personal Representatives in Los Angeles County with real estate sales representation and teaching them to invest in real estate.
One of my values is to give back to community, particularly serving others in need. I am an active supporter of ending homelessness, contributing to Charity: Water, and doing community outreach to educate others on how to create wealth through real estate.
I look forward to meeting you, creating a great relationship, and serving you in all of your real estate needs.
